When Jesus says GO! You pack your bags

I arrived at 30th Street station Philadelphia only to find the board lit up with train delays. The train station was packed with lines of disgruntled passengers whose trains were delayed because of some problem along the Amtrak rail system. It was 12:30 pm when I got there. My train to NYC was scheduled for around 2:00 pm. I calmly sat down and whispered my confidence: "Lord, I know you're going to work this out in my favor so that my train is not delayed." Not long after my prayer, came one announcement after the other that the trains were coming in and the people were moving out! The pathway was cleared for my train to arrive on time. I was on my way to JFK airport.

I have never flown out of JFK before. It's a huge airport with multiple terminals, one could easily be misdirected. I encountered no such problems. Not because I knew where I was going, but because I was divinely directed to the right people to ask. My transfer to JFK from Penn Station NY went smooth as butter. I found my gate and waited for my 10 pm check-in.

At check-in I would come to understand why Jesus told the disciples to only carry a staff and their cloak when He sent them out to spread the gospel. My airline (Norweigen) has the least customer friendly bag allowance weight I have ever encountered----10 kg. The combined weight of my carry-on and one personal item, which they weighed together, forced me into a 16 kg overage for which they charged me an extra $100. Next time it's definitely a staff and cloak for me.

It's almost seven years to the day that I made my first mission trip to Europe with Lay Witnesses for Christ International for their outreach to the athletes at the 2012 Olympics in London. It was there that I got my first real taste for missions, and particularly for Europe. I have always had a desire to return to Europe in a missionary capacity, and the Lord has been gracious to grant me this opportunity.

Every door that has been opened for me to join in ministry with K180.org and London City Mission (lcm.org.uk) has been orchestrated by the Lord. I didn't know anyone in either organization when I reached out to them, and they knew even less about me. But we had this in common, we love Jesus and we love leading the lost to Him. Sweet Jesus. It's going to be a Holy Spirit filled time this week. I can't wait to take you along on this journey with me so let's get started.

An Amazing Journey to Reach Europe for Christ

"How can people have faith in the Lord and ask him to save them if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear, unless someone tells them?" Romans 10:14 CEV

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ:
I am an evangelist and Christian writer in America and I am about to embark on an amazing journey.
I will be travelling throughout Europe this summer (June-July) tracing the footsteps of the early disciples to places where they spread the gospel. I hope to engage with present day disciples and learn first-hand what it's like for them as they fulfill The Great Commission in the 21st century. My pilgrimage will end in Israel—the land where Christianity began. I am excited about the journey the Lord has me on and welcome the prayers of all born again believers in Christ in whatever the Lord leads you to pray. I'll be blogging at every step about what God is doing through faithful missionaries in these lands. In preparation for the pilgrimage I am reaching out to locate and connect with other mission groups, organizations, churches and evangelists in Europe who are actively engaged in spreading the gospel across the continent to unreached people and groups. Why Europe? Because Europe has been described as "unreached with less than 2% who claim to know Jesus personally."

I want to experience first-hand the challenges of Christian witness and see how the Lord is using your group as he opens doors for the gospel to be preached throughout Europe. It's your story I want to tell in this blog so that other Christians, especially in America, can read how The Great Commission is being carried out in your part of the world. In America, less than 3 percent of Christians are actively engaged in evangelism. Sharing your stories may encourage and motivate them in their own mission.

I invite active missionary groups, organizations, church evangelism teams, etc to contact me through this blog if you would like more information about how you can participate. Also suggestions for groups that I can contact would be appreciated as I prepare for this journey.

Christians falling short of The Great Commission to share the gospel

Jesus never asks us to do anything that he didn't model with his first disciples. The same instructions he gave to them, he also left for every Christ following believer today. For example, in John 14:12 we read that Jesus told the disciples they would do even 'greater things' than he did. How is that possible? No one can do greater things than Jesus. And maybe that is the dilemma we face when it comes to delivering on The Great Commission—not believing we can out do Jesus. But it's not about out doing Him, it's about more of us doing what He did and in greater numbers. The question is are we doing that?

A recent survey by the U.S. based Barna Group found that 51 percent of U.S. Christians surveyed haven't heard of The Great Commission and 33 percent of them couldn't identify it from a list of scripture verses.

Clearly, some Christians have lost the focus of their faith which is to share the gospel with others around them. The formula that Jesus used has not changed—each one, disciple one. This generation of Christians has the capability of reaching more people than Jesus did because of our greater technology that includes broadcast satellites, mobile phones and the Internet. Hands and feet methodology is still employed in rural and underdeveloped communities around the world. So with all the means at our disposal why aren't more Christians obeying Christ's commandment to share the gospel? The answer is sin.



As harsh as it may sound, the bible calls it a sin of omission— knowing what is right and not doing it.

Popular televangelist pastor Greg Laurie offers a kinder, gentler approach to the subject with this illustration:

“Let’s say you were walking down a street and heard someone screaming. You ran to them to see that they were standing in front of a house that was on fire. You were told there were people in that home. So, you just turned around and walked away. Would that be wrong?”

Pastor Laurie continues:

“Here we are as Christians, who know how a person can have their sins forgiven and find the hope of Heaven, and we don’t share that with others? That’s even worse than not helping the people in the burning house. Not sharing our message has eternal ramifications.”

Would you knowing want your co-worker, neighbor, best friend, parents, or children to spend a Christ-less eternity in Hell? Well, when they die this will be their fate if they arrive at the gates of Heaven without having accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. And who better to warn them by sharing the gospel with them than you. These are sometimes the hardest to reach but they're the closest to you, they know you.


Nonetheless, we make excuses for not sharing the gospel. There are books, videos, church outreaches, training in evangelism, and of course, praying for lost. But if we fail to take advantage of the many helps that are available what excuse is left for us? To put it colloquially, this is serious and Christ ain't playing.

There will be accountability at the Judgment Seat of Christ for all Christians who fail to obey his commandment. It's not too late to repent and get GOing. Start small with one person at a time and watch God give you the increase.
